Due to real life and having to work long hours at my job, I have had to leave my volunteer post at Erskine Hospital. However due to this position and my time spent at Ardgowen Hospice it has made me realise how much I enjoyed working in that field, engaging with people on a much more personal basis and seeing them change, grow through group activities and art.
Due to this I have started looking for jobs in any care sector, I would love to work with people on the level I was during my volunteering, but to also experience it properly within the establishment to understand better how the sector works and the processes that you have to go through when working for vulnerable people.
I have also been up to Queen Margaret University to speak to the head of Art Psychotherapy to get a better understanding in what I would need to do to further my chances at being accepted to the course and what the course in fact in tales.
The course sounds excellent, although it has definitely made me realise how much more life experience I need and how much more work experience I need for my own understanding and confidence within the field also.
